Busy as a Bee

I've been neglecting this blog recently, but in my defence, I'm trying to finish writing my current novel The Love Shack, which is a romantic comedy set around a dating agency.

It's almost there - I've written 66,000 words - and the end is in sight. I know everything that happens, I just need to get it down on paper, or rather, my laptop screen!

The trouble is, being such a creative person, I also get ideas for other projects.

Because I'm a crafter, my mind comes up with ideas for other things, and before I know it, I've started something else.

I do think it all helps though. After about three weeks of manically writing between 3000 and 6000 words a day, I'd run out of steam, needed a break, and had ideas for a quilling project.

For those who don't know, quilling is the technique of using narrow strips of coloured paper to decorate items, and in my case, make art canvases.

It's a very old craft, which goes back several hundreds of years, to a time when nuns used to tear the gilt edges from bibles and use the strips to decorate plain wooden boxes and other items.

Nowadays, we do different things with it, but it's still the same basic technique.

Here's more about the art - Wiki quilling, and with some old photos - Quilling guild

I've now finished my current project - photo below - so it's back to the writing, and hopefully I'll finish the novel, unless I get an idea for another project!

I've also got a new page on Facebook, showing my quilled items. If you have time, I'd appreciate a page 'like' -  Quillina
